It's been 9 years since the Wine Cask has held its’ highly touted and much anticipated wine futures tasting. February, 24th marks the first “Back to the Futures” tasting for the Pioneers of Santa Barbara County, a group composed of the early trailblazers and vintners that have shaped the Santa Barbara county wine region. 15 plus wineries will be showcasing samples from their barrels and vessels for patrons to taste at Pico Restaurant from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Futures allows for attractive pricing to the consumer for buying in advance of bottling. This tasting lets buyers try wines and call “first dib’s” from some of the county’s most beloved, tried-and-true, wine cellars. “Many people have said they miss the Wine Cask futures tasting. With such a small group of high quality producers excited to do one again, Pico’s historic location feels like the perfect backdrop.” says Pioneers director, Morgan Clendenen. Luminaries attending include Foxen, Brander, Margerum and Au Bon Climat, whose first wines were produced in Los Alamos.
